osteophyte is also named bone spur, it’s one of the common and frequently-occurring disease among the middle-aged and the old. Parts of human body as cervical vertebra, lumbar vertebral, sacral vertebra, knee joint and heel which frequently carry out movements tends to suffer bone spur. Teachers, accountants, heavy manual workers and athletes have high incidence of osteophyte.
osteophyte mainly consists of four types:
1. cervical vertebra osteophyte:
(1)arteria vertebralis: manifest as dizzy, headache, nausea,and hypomnesia.
(2)nerve root: manifest as one side or both sides upper limbs numb and painful.
(3)spinal cord: may cause quadriplegia, incontinence,etc.
(4)mixed type: neck pain, headache, numbness and pain in upper limb, numbness and pain in one side of the body.
2. lumbar vertebra osteophyte: manifest as lower limbs numb, lower leg and ankle painful.
3. knee joint osteophyt: manifest as limitation of activities, hard to squat and stand up, feel much more painful to go up and down steps, etc.
4. heel osteophyte: feels painful to walk especially in the morning.
